I've been staying with my son and daughter-in-law in Fort Hood, TX, my DIL just had a baby, my first grandchild, I am very happy about this. I came here for a few weeks to help out, do the grandma thing, help my DIL get started, give her a few tricks of motherhood... my son is in the Army, they live off base but in base housing. It's a nice 2 bedroom 1 bath brick house, they live on the end of a cul-de-sac, all of their neighbors are military. Their house is pretty sparsely furnished, basically they have furniture in their bedroom and the baby's bedroom, the living room and dining room is empty. I set up an inflatable mattress in the living room, on the floor in front of the sliding glass doors, these doors face the back yard. I don't have the history on the house (or neighborhood), but my son says the houses were built back in the 80s. The house has no carpet, just linoleum tile all throughout the house. All of the windows have venetian blinds.
Usually I don't feel too much activity in a house or place until after I've been there for a bit (at least a day or more), the longer I stay, the more activity I detect. However, this house seems to be very active. I noted activity pretty much from the first night. The second night if not the first night. The things I have noticed the most is a small, golden spark, this spark stays lit for several seconds, it almost reminds me of the sparks you see in a camp fire or fire place. I have mostly seen this on the ceiling.
I have to stop the story to let you know that while writing this, I saw a dark shape on the floor, it was about the size of a mouse (there are no mice in this house), I am in the bedroom, sitting in a chair, the chair is at the end of the bed, I am in front of the TV, the TV is on. It is about 10 pm, well past dark, the light in the room is on, the light is a light bulb in the middle of the ceiling with one of those opaque white square glass cover over it. Oh, I almost forgot to say, I am here in the house alone, my son, DIL and baby are next door visiting their neighbors.
I saw the dark shape on the floor, to my right, next to the bed. There is no space under the mattress is sitting directly on the floor. The dark shape moved several inches very quickly, by the time I turned my head to get a better look, it was gone. I looked closely at the place where I saw the dark shape, the floor is basically light putty colored with some speckling added, there was nothing on the floor that large or dark.
Back to what I was originally talking about, the golden spark. This occurred on the ceiling, near my bed, it seemed to be several inches below the ceiling, and it moved, it moved several inches and swirled, I could detect depth, how far away from the ceiling it was floating, it changed direction and speed, of course once I looked directly at it, it vanished. I have seen this several times in different rooms, it is usually close to the ceiling for some reason.
I have also seen other shadow shapes, usually on or near the floor, most have been very small (mouse sized, again, there are no mice in the house).
I know that it's possible that these could be "floaters", and yes, I do have and see floaters, but I have a trick to detect if what I am seeing are floaters or not, I move my eyes, if it's a floater, the floater will move with my eyes, if it's not a floater, it will not move with my eyes or it will just vanish. When I "see" something, a shadow, a spot or whatever, it's usually not directly in my line of view, you've heard the term "out of the corner of my eye", it's often out to the side, above or below me, sometimes I try to not look directly at it right away, at least for a second or so, this way I feel like I will have a better chance to view it for a longer period of time. Most of the time when I look directly at the object, it vanishes, but I still do my test to see if it's a floater. Eventually I will look directly at the object and it vanishes. At that point, if it was on the floor, I will try to recreate the occurrence to see if I can make it happen again, this way I can try to rule out if it was my hair or something else that I saw. Sometimes it is my hair or something else quite natural, I do not want to see "things" so badly that every little movement of my hair or whatever natural thing I may see becomes a paranormal experience.
I have also felt the presence of someone here, I don't have a clue as to who it may be or why they are here, I don't feel anything negative toward this someone, I just know they are here, a couple of nights ago I had to tell it to go away so I could sleep.
I haven't said anything to my son and DIL, I don't want them to worry, and talking about such things tend to make them happen more frequently. I don't know if they have detected anything or not, I don't even know if they ordinarily detect things like this, but as I said, I don't want them to get worried, especially with the new baby around. I don't feel like there is anything wrong here, and I don't feel like anything that may be here will follow anyone once they move, so I feel it's best to hold my silence for now, maybe after they move out, I might talk to them about it and find out if they had any experiences here. I worry that if I say anything about this to them, they might get spooked and start dwelling on it, that could attract or even create some problems for them.
That's all for now, if anything else happens, I'll post it here.

First Experience...in the country store
Well, I had my first experience in my new home with something, I'm not sure what exactly, this is what happened. First, it wasn't actually in my house, it was at the small country store where I work. This place is a small, quaint country store in the mountain community where I live, it has a small selection of foods, toiletries, cleaning supplies, beer, wine and cigarettes. There aren't very many people living out here, there are fewer than 200 full time residents, during the day when I am there, long stretches can go by with no one coming into the store. I have cleaned until there isn't one speck of dust anywhere, ok I exaggerate, there is always dust, but I tackle one thing at a time each time I work, which is only every other weekend, unless the owner needs me to work more.
Yesterday, I was sitting in the store, in front of the computer playing solitaire, yes, I was bored, it had been an hour or so since the last customer had come in. It's pretty quiet in there too, the main thing I hear is the compressors coming on in the freezers and refrigerators, and the occasional bird call from outside. As I was sitting on the chair in front of the computer, I felt something touch the back of my hair and scalp. Not a tugging, it felt like someone was just fiddling with a piece of my hair and touching my scalp. I ran my hand down the back of my head, I was expecting to find a moth or some other bug, I felt nothing, I rubbed that spot and went back to playing sol. It happened again, in the same spot, again I felt for an insect, there are lots of moths and other flying insects out here, I fully expected to feel one, but again, I felt nothing but hair. I rubbed the spot even harder, fluffing out my hair thinking if this was just a nerve gone crazy, I would give it something to go crazy about. I went back to playing sol, again this happened, this time I asked aloud in a neutral voice, "Why are you touching my hair?", I turned around in the chair and looked all around, I saw and felt nothing. After that, it didn't happen again, I suppose that by acknowledging it was there by speaking aloud to it, that was all it needed (?).
I have a suspicion, though I can't say for sure, the owner of the store lost her husband around Christmas time, he had been very sick for a long time. I never actually met him, but I did see him in the store once. I know that the store was a focal point for both of them.
Was it him? I don't know, does it scare me? No, I felt nothing negative about the whole thing. It hasn't happened again, today I spent more time sitting in front of that same computer and nothing happened.
When I first started working at this store, about a month ago, I did think about him while I was cleaning and dusting (and getting familiar with what they stock there), I hoped that if he was watching, he would be happy that I am there helping his wife to take care of the place.
What do you think?

Welcome
Welcome dear readers, this is the place where I will document my past, present and future paranormal experiences. I have experienced a lot of unexplained things pretty much all of my life, at least as far back as I can remember. Mostly seeing people, animals, shapes, shadows, sometimes normal objects move, odors and sounds occur in places where they shouldn't be. Most of the time, these occurances are benign, neutral, meaning no harm, sometimes I have felt threatened, at least once I was assaulted..
I am not the only one in my family to experience the paranormal, my mother and father both have experienced their fair share, and other people in my family have also had experiences.
I consider myself pretty normal, I am a Christian, nondenominational, was raised in church, I believe that contributed quite a bit to my experiences, I grew up going to a Pentecostal church, very spiritual, healings and such, don't tend to go to church now, I don't think I have to go to a certain building to talk to God. I don't belong to any strange organizations, actually no organizations at all, I had been involved with psychic organizations in the past, but things didn't work out, I'll talk about that in another post. I am not afraid of what I experience, it feels quite normal to me, I know of other people who experience these sorts of things who wish they didn't, they say that they would turn it off if they could, I would not, it is part of my life and I would feel very lost without it. I don't go "looking" for it, it just happens, most every day, I'm sure it probably happens every day, but I just don't make note of it.
I will start writing my experiences to the best of my memory, I will say that I have a hard time remembering dates and time, I will try my best to list the dates and times as accurately as possible.
I don't ask you to believe or not, that is completely up to you, it's not my place to try to prove anything to anyone, all I ask is that you keep an open but skeptical mind, ask questions, I will answer if I can. If you have any stories that you would like to post here, please feel free to send me an email, I will be developing a template for my readers to use.
Again, I thank you for coming here and taking your valuable time to read about my experiences.
ps I LOVE comments!
